What do I need to run it?

No dongle, no iLok, no account. A licence key and one online activation, and that is the whole of it.

Is there a Windows version?

Yes — a VST3 for Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. It is included in the same purchase as the macOS version, so one licence covers both.

It comes as a zip file rather than an installer, and installing means two copy steps: put the 4seasons.vst3 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, and put the sound library file 4seasons.stash into C:\Users\<your name>\Music\wavtherapy. That is all of it — the library is one file, so there is nothing to unpack.

Keep it somewhere else if you prefer — an external drive, your samples disk, anywhere. Click the folder mark in the top left of the plugin and point it at the file.

Will it run in my DAW?

It runs wherever VST3 or Audio Unit plugins run. On macOS Logic Pro uses the Audio Unit; Ableton Live, FL Studio and Reaper load the VST3, and there is a standalone application if you want to play it without opening a DAW at all. On Windows it is the VST3.

One thing catches nearly everybody: restart your DAW completely after installing. A plugin rescan alone is often not enough, and 4seasons then looks as if it had not installed.

Can I use the sounds in commercial releases?

Yes. You may use the software and every sound in it in your own music productions, including commercial releases — no further licence fees, no revenue share, no credit required. That covers commissioned work, film, advertising, games and library music.

What is not allowed is passing the sounds on as sounds: reselling or publishing the library or individual audio files, or using them as part of another sample pack, preset pack or instrument — anywhere the sound itself is the product being sold rather than part of a music production. You may share your own presets, as long as they contain no audio files from the library.

The rule of thumb, from the licence terms: make as much music with it as you like, do not resell the sounds themselves. The binding wording is § 4 and § 5 of the licence terms.

How many computers can I use it on?

The key may be active on two computers at the same time, and you can release an activation from inside the plugin whenever you like — so two at a time, not two forever. See § 3 of the licence terms, and new computer, or a wiped disk below for how to move one.

Can I get my money back?

As a consumer you have 14 days to withdraw from the purchase, without giving any reason. Your contract is with Lemon Squeezy (they are the merchant of record), so the quickest way is the link in their order confirmation email — a plain sentence is enough, no form required. If you cannot get through to them, write to info@wavtherapy.com and we will chase it for you.

The sale itself runs through Lemon Squeezy, who are the merchant of record and your contracting party, so payment and the refund are handled on their side. The full notice, including the deadline and how it is counted, is on the right of withdrawal page — that page is the binding one, this paragraph is only the short version of it.

Is there a subscription?

No. One payment, and updates within version 1 are free. Beyond version 1 there is no claim to future features or later versions — see § 2 of the licence terms.

What arrives after payment?

An email with your licence key and two downloads: the plugin installer, which is small, and the sound library, which is 1.05 GB. They are separate on purpose — a fix to the plugin should not cost you the library again.

The plugin installer is signed and notarised by Apple: double-click, give your admin password once, done. The sound library is not an installer at all — it is a single file, 4seasons.stash, that you put wherever you want your samples to live. The same file works on macOS and on Windows.

The order does not matter — install the plugin first and it will show a pink sound library not found strip until the library is in place. The plugin installer puts things here:

Then restart your DAW completely, not just its plugin scan.

How do I enter my licence key?

Open 4seasons and click the folder mark in the top left corner of the plugin window. That is the one door, and it never moves: the card it opens holds the credits, the licence and the sound-library setting together.

Paste your key into the field marked LICENCE — it looks like XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX — and click activate. One online check, and you should read Activated - thank you. After that the plugin never contacts anything again.

If the message says the key was not accepted, the wording comes straight from the licence server, and it is usually literal: a key for a different product, or all activations already in use. If it says the connection failed, your key is fine — try again when you are online.

It loads, but there is no sound

Two causes, in this order:

1. It is not activated yet. Without activation the plugin loads, looks completely normal and the globe turns — but it stays silent. That is deliberate, and it is the single most common reason for a quiet 4seasons. Enter your key as described above.

2. The sound library has not been found. Then a pink strip sits in the header of the plugin window: sound library not found - click to choose its folder. Click it and see the next answer.

If it is neither, check that the track is not muted and that 4seasons is receiving MIDI — the standalone application is a quick way to tell, since it takes your keyboard and your audio device directly, with no DAW in between.

Where does the sound library go?

Wherever you want. The library is one file, 4seasons.stash, and nothing in it is tied to a machine or to a path — copy it to another computer as it is.

If you have no preference, put it in one of these and the plugin finds it by itself:

You are not tied to that. The plugin looks in three places, in this order:

1. Your own choice

Any folder you pick yourself — an external drive, for instance. This one wins.

2. Your Music folder

~/Music/wavtherapy

3. The installed one

/Library/Application Support/wavtherapy/4seasons/Sounds

Nothing in the library is tied to a machine, so you can copy the folder to another Mac as it is. If the external drive with your chosen folder is not plugged in, nothing breaks: the plugin quietly plays on from the installed library, and plugging the drive back in restores your choice.

The sound library is not found

Click the pink strip in the header — or the folder mark in the top left corner, which leads to the same card. There the sound-library box is outlined in pink and says SOUND LIBRARY NOT FOUND, with a choose folder... button under it.

What to pick: the 4seasons.stash file itself, or the folder it sits in — either works. If you land one level off, the plugin works it out and tells you which folder it took. If the file cannot be read at all — an interrupted download is the usual reason — it says so rather than pretending the library is there.

use default puts you back on the three-step search above and forgets your choice. Your setting belongs to this computer, not to your projects — a colleague opening your session will not inherit a path to a drive they do not have.

New computer, or a wiped disk

Open the same card and click remove this computer from your license. That gives the activation slot back, and you can then activate the new machine. Do it before you sell, wipe or reinstall — afterwards the plugin is not there to do it.

If the old machine is already gone, that is not a dead end: write to info@wavtherapy.com from the address you bought with, and the slot gets released for you.

Wiping the same computer counts too. The licence lives in your home folder, so erasing the disk erases it, and activating again afterwards takes a second slot. Release it first and you keep both. If you are only restoring a backup of your home folder onto the same Mac, nothing is used up — the licence comes back with it and still fits the machine.

Where are my own presets and favourites?

In ~/Library/wavtherapy/4seasons. Your own presets live beside the factory ones and survive an update — installing a new version over the old one leaves them alone, and leaves the sound library where it is.

Your presets refer to sounds by name, so they need the library to be present. Copying that one folder to another Mac brings your presets and favourites with it.

Does it need the internet?

Once, to activate. Your licence key and a device name are sent to the licence server, so the activation can be counted against your key.

After that the plugin makes no further connections of its own: no telemetry, no usage data, no periodic re-check, no expiry. It will not go silent on you at a gig without a network, and it will not ask again years later. The only other time it connects is when you release a computer yourself. The details are in the privacy policy, section 5.

How do I get updates and fixes?

Updates within version 1 are free. You get an email with a fresh download; install it over the old version, and the sound library stays where it is. There is no auto-updater and nothing that checks for one in the background.
